(10 days – 9 nights)

Departure dayFROMTO

IT170

Individual tour – Minimum 2 people (special departure dates for at least 5 people)

This is the land of the champion Fausto Coppi, “il Campionissimo”, who trained his legs in these hills. The slopes in this region, covered in vineyards, call for strong determination, but the view beyond your handlebars is a joy to the spirit. The palate will also enjoy this area, as there are excellent wines to be tasted, plus specialities from Piedmont cuisine and, above all, the famous truffles

Day 1 – Arrival in Turin

Arrival in Turin. Transfer to the booked hotel Overnight.

Day 2 – Turin

Full day at disposal to visit the city. Guided visits and activities can be requested and included in the itinerary. Overnight

Day 3 – Turin – Alessandria

Free transfer to the train station and train to Alessandria. The city is divided by the Tanaro River. Piazza della LibertĂ  and Piazza Duomo, with its magnificent neoclassic cathedral, are truly worth a visit. Overnight

Day 4 –   Alessandria – Castellania – Acqui Terme (90 km, + 660 m, 3.30 h)

The tour starts in Alessandria and takes you along secondary roads to Castellania, Fausto Coppi’s birthplace, where you can relive the successes of this
great champion on a visit to his house-museum. You then take the road that leads to Novi Ligure with easy ascents up and over the hills of vineyards that produce
the renowned Barbera and Dolcetto d’Acqui wines. In the evening you can relax in the warm spa waters of Acqui Terme. Overnight.

Day 5 –   Acqui Terme – Alba (100 km, + 2,100 m, 5 h)

Today’s stretch takes you through the towns of the famous Montabone, Rocchetta Palafea and Canelli wine producers. Three climbs await you on your journey
through the Langhe, with gradients of up to 12%. One of these is the Gino Bartali ascent with its many holy sanctuaries surrounded by Dolcetto vineyards (but don’t let its name deceive you, although “sweet” in Italian this ascent is hard and challenging). The climb ends with your arrival in Albaretto Torre, where you can
rest before starting the downhill ride to Alba. Overnight.

Day 6 –   Alba – Asti (90 km, + 1,400 m, 4,30 h)

Quiet roads through vineyards and hazelnut groves in the heart of Monferrato. Today we cross the Tanaro natural park and the Sarmassa natural reserve. The
stage ends in Asti with its monuments and splendid Gothic cathedral. Overnight

Day 7 –   Asti round tour (90 km, + 1,000 m, 4 h)

A cycle through the Monferrato vineyards to reach Turin. The end stretch is a climb up the famous Superga hill, 7 km at 8%, followed by a lovely descent down into Turin, a must-visit city! Back to Asti by train. Overnight

Day 8 –  Asti – Casale Monferrato (90 km, + 1,500 m, 4.30 h)

You pedal northwards up to Mnferrato, along a winding route with continual variations in steepness and steep climbs that at times are very similar to the Mur de Huy ascent in the classic Flèche Wallonne. You will enjoy it however, because you will always be surrounded by nature. Overnight

Day 9 –    Casale Monferrato – Alessandria (50 km, + 500 m, 3 h)

Our tour continues through green hills and farmed land, through small towns on the right-hand bank of the Po River and comes to an end in Alessandria. Overnight

Day 10 – Alessandria/departure

Free transfer to the train station and end of the tour (or proceed with your Italian trip)
