Day 4: Amarone & Valpolicella tasting
Today it’s the day of the famous red wines of Veneto. Indeed we started the tour with the fresh and sparkling Prosecco and now we get closer to the end of this tour by visiting the famous Amarone wineries. Our guide will pick you up at the hotel and start bringing you on a tour of 3 different wineries. We will start by the Zyme Winery. The word Zyme – Yeast – conjures up the concept of naturalness, a fundamental value in Celestino Gaspari’s professional and existential journey, as well as the process of fermenting, understood as a continuous striving towards transformation. In harmony with that philosophy, the winery logo represents a grapevine leaf in which is centered a pentagon, symbol of the five basic elements that combine to yield wine: man-vine-earth-sun-water. With this wine tour you’ll be greeted by the wine hospitality manager that will bring you on a guided tour of the cellars, representing an amazing contrast between modern and ancient style, then you’ll have a special wine tasting of traditional products like the Amarone and innovative ones like Kairos, created from the long experience and passion of the winemaker and founder Celestino Gaspari.
After Zyme you’ll be transferred to Scriani, a completely different company with a family style and the new young generation taking over. The “Scriani” vineyards are in the heart of the area called Valpolicella Classica and the main, privately-owned ones are situated on a gorgeous hill called “Monte S. Urbano”. The land, which is situated at an altitude ranging between 250 and 400 meters above sea level, partially consists of somewhat flat areas, and partially of dry-wall terracing, and is characterized by a lively torrential stream along its edge, called a “Vaio”. You’ll taste at least 4 wines before moving towards the Garda lake where you’ll have lunch on own and a stroll on the beautiful village of Peschiera del Garda.
At 3 pm you’ll have a final tasting with a splendid experience at Capurso Wine. The reason why we want to bring you here is because you’ll enjoy a great wine and chocolate pairing experience before heading back to the hotel for dinner on own.
