1 night in Frascati, 2 nights in L’Aquila, 1 night in Narni, 3 nights in Assisi and 1 night in Orvieto

Day 1 – Rome – Frascati

Arrive in Rome airport. Pick up your rental car and drive to Frascati, one of the hills of Rome and famous for its white wine. Overnight

Day 2 – Frascati – Tivoli – L’Aquila

Drive East and make a stop in Tivoli to visit the The Villa d’Este. It is a 16th-century villa, famous for its terraced hillside Italian Renaissance garden and especially for its profusion of fountains. It is now an Italian state museum, and is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. After the visit continue to L’Aquila, known also as the Florence of Abruzzo. Overnight

Day 3 – L’Aquila (Parco d’Abruzzo)

Full day dedicated to the excursion the the biggest National Park of Italy, Il Parco Nazionale d’Abruzzo. The scenery here is characterized by mountain chains, karst phenomena, rivers (including the Sangro River) and streams. It’s the ideal place to spend a pleasant day in close contact with nature and to admire uncontaminated landscapes, a rich flora and varied fauna. Overnight

Day 4 – L’Aquila – Cascate delle Marmore – Narni

Drive north into Umbria. Everchanging, untouched landscapes in the green of winding valleys make Umbria a region that will never fail to amaze. This region comprises mainly hills, mountains, hollows and plains and extends along the Tiber’s central basin. We suggest the visit of the tallest waterfalls in Italy, Le Cascate delle Marmore. Proceed then to Narni. Overnight

Day 5 – Narni – Spoleto – Spello – Assisi

Always staying in Umbria, drive to Spoleto, a picturesque town that boasts a thousand-year-old history, still preserves images from the past in its Medieval and Renaissance architecture. Before reaching Assisi, stop in the beautiful Spello, nestled on the southern flank of Mount Subasio, between Assisi and Foligno. It is part of the club of “The Most Beautiful Villages of Italy” due to its significant environmental, cultural and artistic heritage. Overnight

Day 6 – Assisi

Between art and spirituality, a visit to the Medieval town of Assisi is essential; a UNESCO World Heritage Site, it  represents “a series of masterpieces of man‘s creative spirit.” Everything revolves around its most renowned citizen, St. Francis, Patron Saint of Italy: from the Basilica, which is dedicated to the Saint and contains his tomb, to the hermitage (Eremo delle Carceri), a few kilometers outside the town walls, where St. Francis used to retreat in prayer. Full day guided visit (included). In the evening “Typical dining experience with cooking demo” (included). Overnight

Day 7 – Assisi (Perugia and Gubbio)

Visit today other two jewels of Umbria, Perugia and Todi. Perugia, Umbria’s main city dates back to Antiquity and is composed of a higher section on the hill, whence the Medieval villages spread out on its slopes. The historic center teems with cultural and architectural masterpieces, with one of the most extensive museum collections in Italy. Gubbio is one of the oldest village in Umbria that reached its full splendor in the Middle Ages; the Cathedral; the Consul’s Palace, symbol of the town; and the Ducal Palace are just some of the attractions that testify to Gubbio’s status as a jewel of Umbria. Overnight

Day 8 – Assisi – Orvieto

Leave Assisi for Another of the countless charming Umbrian cities is Orvieto, with its famous Duomo, one of the masterpieces of Italian Gothic art, and St. Patrick’s Well, a 62-meter-deep (203 feet) feat of engineering characterized by two spiral staircases that wind around the well (yet never meet), with 248 steps down to the water. Walking tour and visit of the Duomo (included). Overnight

Day 9 – Orvieto – Rome – departure

Drive back to Rome airport , drop off the car rental and departure
