The experience focuses on the discovery of Pigna, a charming medieval village in western Liguria. The inhabited area preserves the structure of the ancient fortress with streets that follow one another and degrade in semicircular circles, communicating by means of steep alleys called โ€œchibiโ€, that is dark, because they are covered by the houses above with the function of protection from enemy from bad weather.

The 15th-century Loggia, supported by sturdy black gray stone columns, is the element that physically connects the castle area with the parish church of San Michele (13th / 14th / 15th / 16th century). Next to the Loggia stands the majestic church, defined by Professor Lamboglia as โ€œthe most grandiose testimony of late medieval architecture in Liguria Intemelia, the last expression of Gothic taste on the threshold of the Renaissance.โ€

Another important testimony of religious architecture is represented by the Pieve di San Tommaso located about one kilometer from the town, founded by the Benedictine monks in the 11th century, it represents one of the most important monuments of Christianity in the Nervia Valley. The church dedicated to San Bernardo da Mentone preserves an important cycle of frescoes dated 1482 and signed by the painter Giovanni Canavesio.
