The Blue Treasure of Italy: the marine protected areas

A real liquid asset of 563,000 acres of sea, sided by 450 miles of protected coast line. From north to south here our 30 “blue oasis”, a heritage of bio-diversity to be known and protect but also to be lived and enjoyed. Many activities are possible, from bicycle itineraries to scuba diving, to hiking, sea watching……

27 are the marine areas, 2 the underwater parks and the multi-regional Cetacean Sanctuary. All offer a treasure of high naturalistic and historic interests for the flora and fauna of the marine environments but also for the coasts, sometimes unspoiled, where turtles and birds find shelter and the underwater archeological sites that can be visited with guided scuba dives.

Here a list of these protected areas divided by regions (from north to south).

We left the names in Italian as officially are registered and we provide a photo gallery where you can get a first taste of the beauty of these places.
